From E-Patients to AI Patients: The Tidal Wave Empowering Patients, Redefining Clinical Relationships, and Transforming Care

From E-Patients to AI Patients: The Tidal Wave Empowering Patients, Redefining Clinical Relationships, and Transforming Care

In 2024, a total of 39.4% of US adults aged 18-64 years reported using generative AI, and 32% used it weekly. In contrast, 20% of the public used the internet 2 years after its launch, and 20% owned a computer after 3 years of availability. While price and ease of use play a role in the difference, the advancement of AI is without historic parallel. Projections of the health AI market over the next decade are staggering, with estimates of US $27 billion in 2024 climbing to US $613 billion by 2034 [6].

Leveraging Technology to Engage Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Consumers With Children at Farmers Markets: Qualitative Community-Engaged Approach to App Development

We sought to raise awareness of nutrition incentive programs among SNAP consumers with children by developing a mobile app. To do this we leveraged a qualitative community-engaged process. We chose a community-engaged approach because the technology that is desired and designed by end users should be more useful to them, and it can lead to rapid adoption [30,31].

Stakeholders and Contextual Factors in the Implementation of Assistive Robotic Arms for Persons With Tetraplegia: Deductive Content Analysis of Focus Group Interviews

The FRIEND IV, the latest iteration, integrates a 7-degree of freedom robotic arm and a 2-finger gripper and has been tested in a use-scenario, achieving a 95% success rate for cataloging books (of a performed 100 runs) with the end user’s intervention [27]. The Jaco 2 robotic arm (Kinova Inc), a widely used commercially available system, offers 6- or 7-degree of freedom configurations and can be equipped with 2- or 3-finger grippers.

Evaluation of the Digital Support Tool Gro Health W8Buddy as Part of Tier 3 Weight Management Service: Observational Study

Treatment and prevention of obesity have been identified as a priority both from an NHS and a wider economic perspective, with a clear focus from the Office for Life Sciences on obesity as one of its health care missions [4]. The public health and economic burden of obesity is considered a worldwide epidemic requiring urgent action. A tiered approach to weight management exists in the United Kingdom.

Quality and Misinformation About Health Conditions in Online Peer Support Groups: Scoping Review

Health-related misinformation has been defined as a health-related claim of a fact that is false due to a lack of scientific evidence [24] and is usually attributed to misconceptions. Virtual Reality for the Prevention and Cessation of Nicotine Vaping in Youths: Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial

Virtual Reality for the Prevention and Cessation of Nicotine Vaping in Youths: Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial

One study used a pre-post design to test a VR program that focused on teaching vaping refusal skills (n=47) during 2 play sessions [15]. The results demonstrated a significant increase in knowledge and perceptions of e-cigarette harm, and a significant decrease in perceived likelihood of using e-cigarettes in the future, but there were no significant changes in attitudes toward e-cigarettes, social norm perceptions, or refusal self-efficacy.

Experiences Receiving and Delivering Virtual Health Care For Women: Qualitative Evidence Synthesis

Each article was assigned a richness score by 2 team members (AS and TL-D), ranging from 1 to 5, based on the volume and depth of relevant qualitative data [28]. We sampled a subset of articles for abstraction with a focus on overrepresenting marginalized voices, purposively choosing articles from each health care delivery pathway, and prioritizing articles with higher richness scores.
